Pet Ergonomics

For some of you who have worked behind a desk, you may already be quite familiar with office ergonomics.  When we talk about ergonomics here, we are mostly referring to physical ergonomics and YES - This is important for pets too!

Much how an ergonomic computer mouse or office chair may be designed in a way to align with the body's natural positions, ergonomic pet products are also designed to make life easier and reduce physical stress which may come from beds, bowls, and toys.

ORTHOPEDIC BEDS

The most important thing to understand about the "orthopedic label" is that it may be used very generally for any type of supportive cushioning.  We caution you that other stores may use this term very liberally as a marketing angle.  At Gotcha, only extra supportive beds made of high-density foam, memory foam or eggshell cushioning are labeled as "orthopedic", like the BINGOPAW Orthopedic Large Dog Bolster Bed.  As described above, what makes a bed orthopedic is additionally supportive cushioning - however, the best in our opinion have deep grooves, or otherwise known as eggshell cushioning!

ANGLED/ELEVATED BOWLS

Angled or elevated bowls provide unique benefits to your pet, benefitting their overall health.  Angled bowls allow food to be eaten at an angle facing your pet, which makes it much easier to slop up every last morsel.  Elevated bowls provide additional benefit by bringing the food or water closer to your pet, allowing for a more natural eating position which is better for digestion and cervical health.  Often times, both elements are combined to give your pet the best of both worlds - like the MADDEN Adjustable Ergonomic Dog Bowl Set.

PAW-FRIENDLY TOYS

Paw-friendly toys are designed so that there is always a gap between the toy and floor, since dogs do not have thumbs but love to hold onto their chew toys as if it is their most prized possession.  Check out the BENEBONE Flavored Wishbone Durable Dog Chew Toy.
